SR 99 tunnel to close Friday night

SEATTLE — Both directions of the state Route 99 tunnel will close Friday night for maintenance.

Washington State Department of Transportation said its crews will start closing northbound and southbound lanes at 9 p.m. Friday, with the tunnel fully closed by 10 p.m. During the closure, crews will test fire suppression systems, clean and mark drains and fix lights. The tunnel is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. on Saturday.
