Skanska’s Civil team is heavily engaged in building the new SR 520 Portage Bay Bridge, shown here in February.

The DJC caught up with Skanska executive vice president and general manager Lew Guerrette to talk about the company's winter 2025 Construction Market Trends report that highlights the effects of tariffs, deportations and the California wildfires on the U.S. construction industry as a whole. Guerrette, who leads building operations in Seattle and has been with the company for 26 years, zeroes in on how these impacts are already playing out locally, and how Seattle companies can prepare for what's next. Content was edited slightly for clarity.
