MOUNT VERNON — Skagit Transit is taking comments on its draft long-range transit plan that will help the agency develop a framework for improving and expanding its bus and transit services over the next five to 15 years. The agency said it wants its plan to better serve existing riders and attract new riders.
The plan includes measures that will help the agency assess where to go next: a regional transit study focused on environmental sustainability and a Comprehensive Operational Analysis identifying opportunities for service improvements, route efficiencies and overall system upgrades. The agency is also considering adding new microtransit services that can be called when needed, especially in places with lower populations or during times when buses are not usually busy.
