Hood Canal Bridge malfunction studied

SHINE, Jefferson County — The state Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge has reopened to traffic following a malfunction that left the bridge in the open position for most of the day Monday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation says there was a mechanical malfunction during a routine closure for a marine vessel. Investigations continue into the cause, and WSDOT says that until the issue is identified and resolved, the bridge will be restricted to a partial draw span for boat traffic.
