The 365,125 square foot facility will be constructed in the Canyon Park subarea of Bothell.

As expected, the Sound Transit Board has approved a $228 million contract with PCL Construction Services to build its new Bus Base North.

The DJC reported that PCL had the lowest bid for the project in April.

Bus Base North will be Sound Transit's first agency-owned bus operations and maintenance facility and will support electrified rapid bus service lines on I-405 and SR-522.

The 365,125-square-foot facility will be constructed in the Canyon Park subarea of Bothell, which is south of 214th Street Southeast and east of 20th Avenue Southeast. It will accommodate up to 120 double-decker and articulated buses for Stride and ST Express services, providing storage, charging, and maintenance as well as administrative and operations support for Stride BRT service.

PCL will build three buildings: a two-story operations and administration center, a two-story parking and serving center, and a two-story structure containing areas for maintenance and parts storage.

The general contractor's fixed price contract approves $228,334,322 for construction with a 20% contingency of $45,668,864 for a total authorized contract not to exceed $274,013,186.

Construction is anticipated to start this year and to be completed in 2027.
