SR 99 tunnel texturing continues

SEATTLE – Late night closures of the state Route 99 tunnel are planned as Washington State Department of Transportation's contractor Acme Concrete of Spokane continues to texturize the driving surface.

The $1.44 million project involves shot-blasting the tunnel's two-mile road surface. WSDOT said the surface of the roadway has become worn by traffic and provides less tire grip than when the tunnel first opened five years ago.
