Closures set for SR-509 completion

SEATAC — Overnight lane and ramp closures are scheduled through the weekend on Interstate 5, and state routes 516 and 509 in Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac and Kent as part of the Washington State Department of Transportation's SR-509 Completion Project.

The project builds 3 miles of new tolled highway between I-5 and South 188th Street near the south end of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The new highway will be completed in stages. The portion of highway between I-5 and 24th Avenue South and a new tunnel under I-5 at the SR-516 interchange opened this summer. The final stage builds the remaining two miles of the expressway, with the entire project planned for completion by 2029.
