DCW moves to employee ownership

DCW, a women-owned small business providing cost estimating and construction management services, has announce that it is transitioning to an employee ownership trust (EOT).

In a news release last week, the company said this milestone marks a significant step in securing its future by reinforcing its commitment to employees and clients alike.

The EOT adoption follows a two-year effort by founder and Managing Director Trish Drew to ensure business continuity and a culture of shared success.

“Transitioning to an EOT allows us to continue our legacy while giving our team a direct role in shaping the company's future,” said Drew. “This move not only rewards the dedication of our employees but also strengthens our ability to serve our clients with the highest level of collaboration and expertise.”

As one of the first EOTs in Washington state, and among just 60 across the U.S., DCW says it is helping to pave the way for a growing movement in equitable business succession.

A key priority for Drew in the transition was preserving the firm's status as a woman-owned small business. Women comprise more than 50% of DCW's management and operations. The company says the EOT structure and diversity of the team meets federal and state small business requirements in Washington and Oregon, ensuring its WBE, SCS and WOSB designations are maintained.

Along with the ownership transition comes other organizational changes that will allow employees to take a greater role in the firm's future.

Drew will now anchor DCW's EOT Board of Directors, which includes representatives from the cost and project management departments, marketing, and systems and innovation. Tim Ausink has assumed the role of managing director, overseeing day-to-day operations and strategic execution.

DCW says that its staff of 14 has built a reputation for delivering accurate, strategic and client-focused solutions in cost estimating and project management. This next chapter is aimed at continuing to innovate, collaborate and add value, while strengthening the firm's position in the industry. For more information about DCW, visit http://www.dcwcost.com
