$4M for Cascade Vista sewer replacements

RENTON — The Soos Creek Water and Sewer District has received a $4 million low-interest loan from the state Public Works Assistance Account to fund critical infrastructure improvements in Southeast King County.

The Cascade Vista Phase I AC Replacement project will replace approximately 5,900 linear feet of failing 4-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch diameter asbestos-cement water main in Renton's Cascade Vista neighborhood. The AC water main will be replaced with 4-inch and 8-inch diameter ductile iron water main. Work will include installation of new fire hydrants, miscellaneous valves, water service lines, and meter boxes from the new water main to the customer line, including tie ins.

Construction is scheduled to start next April. A spokesperson from the district says they expect to seek bids in the first quarter of 2026.

“This award from the Public Works Board will allow Soos Creek Water and Sewer District to continue funding an aggressive water infrastructure improvement program that will meet local growth and housing needs while keeping rates affordable for customers,” said District General Manager William Appleton. “Ensuring the long-term reliability and resilience of our water distribution system is important and we're grateful to our legislators and the State for continuing to support this mission by investing in local infrastructure.”

The loan is administered by the state Public Works Board.
