Golden Gate Bridge's next big era of work

The 14-acre Presidio Tunnel Tops park, with its vista views of the fabled bridge, was engineered by Seattle’s Magnusson Klemencic Associates.

Construction on San Francisco's fabled Golden Gate Bridge began on this day in 1933. And now, in 2026, the bridge is ready to undergo the final phase of a major seismic retrofit.
