Nisqually quake anniversary spurs fresh calls for URM retrofits

Seattle’s Cadillac Hotel was badly damaged in the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake. The Pioneer Square building has since been restored.

On the morning of Feb. 28, 2001, the Puget Sound area was rocked by a magnitude 6.8 earthquake. While the epicenter was just northeast of Olympia, the shock rippled through much of the Pacific Northwest.
