L&I proposes trades program fees hike

TUMWATER — The state Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is proposing a 6.51% fee increase for various trade programs, including Contractor Registration, Electrical, Elevator, FAS and Plumber services.

L&I filed the proposed rulemaking on Feb. 3, and said the fee increases are needed to cover program operating expenses. If adopted, the increase would take effect July 1 for the 2027 fiscal year. The rulemaking also proposes adding an additional $.10 to correct an error to the Master electrician and journey level, specialty or reciprocal electrician exam applications' nonrefundable fee.
