Construction hiring remains sluggish

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The construction industry recorded 231,000 job openings at the end of January, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics analyzed by Associated Builders and Contractors.

Openings fell by 14,000 from December and were down slightly — about 1,000 positions — compared with January 2025, signaling continued sluggish demand for new hires.
