Crews to start rebuilding Spirit Lake Outlet Bridge, restoring crucial Mount St. Helens connection

The 2023 slide, two miles from the Johnston Ridge Observatory, covered the roadway with more than 10 feet of rock, mud, ice and water.

Crews are set to begin work Monday rebuilding the Spirit Lake Outlet Bridge on state Route 504, restoring an essential access point to the Mount St. Helens blast zone destroyed in a massive debris slide nearly three years ago.
