May is Building Safety Month

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) is highlighting the importance of safe, resilient buildings throughout May as part of Building Safety Month, an international campaign aimed at raising awareness about modern construction standards and community preparedness.

The initiative, led by the International Code Council, raises awareness about how building codes and enforcement play a critical role in protecting residents from hazards such as earthquakes, fires and extreme weather, while also advancing sustainability and accessibility goals.
