Emergency contractors work around the clock on North Cascades Highway

Crews with Interwest Construction began emergency work stabilizing the slope near Diablo Lake on May 5.

Hiking season is here, but the North Cascades Highway remains closed between mileposts 130 and 156, as crews with two emergency contractors work 24/7 to get the popular span of state Route 20 open again — hopefully in time for the Fourth of July.
