Washington construction jobs down 1% in June

  • Nationally, industry employment rose in most states last month.
  • Washington state’s construction industry lost 2,100 jobs in June, making it one of the largest monthly declines in the nation even as construction employment grew across much of the country, according to new federal employment data analyzed by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

    Nationally, construction employment increased in 33 states and the District of Columbia over the past year and rose in 28 states and D.C. from May to June. But Washington was among the states that experienced a monthly setback, with construction employment declining 1.0% between May and June, matching New York for one of the steepest percentage declines among large states.
