Tacoma Narrows joint work continues

TACOMA — Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews will work below the Tacoma Narrows Bridge deck this weekend to reinforce joint repairs that were made on the aging westbound bridge in June.

WSDOT has a dedicated crew that inspects and maintains the bridge. The older 1950s span takes traffic westbound from Tacoma to Gig Harbor, and has had three emergency repairs in 2026. There were also three emergency repairs in 2025 and five in 2024, all centered around bridge joints.
