JTM Construction completes $2.8M oncology clinic expansion at Valley Medical Center

The first patients are scheduled to be welcomed on Aug. 31.

JTM Construction has completed work on Valley Medical Center & Clinics' East Pavilion Oncology Clinic in Renton.

Located at 4009 Talbot Road S., Suite 310, the clinic was completed for $2.8 million, approximately $900,000 below its original $3.7 million estimate. The new project doubles the footprint of VMCC's oncology clinic and creates a more modern, accessible environment designed to support growing demand for cancer care services. JTM Construction renovated the space in VMCC's East Pavilion, expanding clinical capacity and allowing it to offer a broader range of oncology services. The project was made possible through philanthropic support and is intended to address space constraints within VMCC's existing oncology program while improving accessibility and clinic operations.

“This project reflects the kind of complex, community-centered healthcare work JTM Construction is proud to deliver,” said Jimmy Craig, JTM's Critical Environments Division Manager and healthcare lead. “Our team understood that this was more than just a build-out, it is an opportunity to help VMCC expand access to critical oncology services while improving both patient and staff experience.”

The expansion doubles the footprint of VMCC’s oncology clinic.

This comes as VMCC completes Phase 1B of its $60 million Cancer Center project, with the first patients scheduled to be welcomed on Aug. 31. Phase 1A opened in February 2025 with a 41-bay infusion and immunotherapy center.

The newly expanded space will serve as home to five cancer care programs that are being brought together within Valley's Cancer Center initiative: Oncology & Hematology Clinic, Multidisciplinary Clinic, Acute Symptom Management Clinic, High Risk Screening & Genetics Clinic, Supportive & Palliative Care Clinic.

On a recent blog post about the project, VMCC says consolidating these services into one connected location will create a more coordinated and convenient experience for patients and their families.

The East Pavilion will serve as home to five cancer care programs that are being brought together within Valley’s Cancer Center initiative.

“The new oncology clinic gives our patients and care teams the space, access and resources needed to support a more coordinated care experience for all,” said Becky Hardi, director of facilities planning, design and construction at VMCC. “This is the second of several construction phases aimed at bringing cancer care services together under one roof and easing the experience for patients while they're with us for care.”

In addition to expanding treatment capacity, the East Pavilion project improves connectivity between parking areas and the clinic, making access easier for patients, visitors and caregivers.

VMCC is currently raising funds for Phase II, the final stage of its Cancer Center project, which will relocate Radiation Oncology services to the building's first floor and complete the center's vision of bringing cancer care services together in a single location.
