SEATTLE — The Washington State Department of Transportation says it will pause most highway construction projects beginning Sept. 4 to help ease congestion during the busy Labor Day weekend travel period.
The order advances existing SDOT priority safety projects, expands tools to reduce dangerous speeds, strengthens coordination across city departments by creating a new interdepartmental team focused on road safety, and sets new timelines and actions to help Seattle reach its goal of ending traffic deaths and serious injuries on city streets by 2030.
