Cost of construction inputs up 8.9% from last year

The price of construction materials continues to surge, putting pressure on contractors and causing some developers to put planned projects on hold.

The producer price index for inputs to new nonresidential construction rose 8.9% from August 2025 to August 2026, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of recent government data.
