DJC Construction Industry Spotlight: Will tunnel retrofit snarl downtown traffic?

  • By JOHN C. RYAN

Before: Third Avenue has two-way traffic with turn restrictions during rush hour.

After: Only transit and emergency vehicles will be able to use Third during rush hour. Cars will be allowed to turn onto Third, but must turn right at the next block.<

Most of the construction necessary for Sound Transit to send light-rail trains through downtown Seattle will take place deep underground, barely noticeable to those above.
