Concrete panels give Amazon lobby a unique look

  • To keep costs and weight down, designers went with glass fiber reinforced concrete, which doesn't need rebar or aggregate.

    Concrete was blended with wood to make the lobby a focal point of this new Amazon.com building in South Lake Union.

    Glass fiber reinforced concrete isn't a new material, but it's showing up in some unusual places. The most recent is the lobby of a new Amazon.com building in Seattle's South Lake Union.
