Project of the Month: A heart of blue

    Ocean-going robotic instruments developed at the University of Washington are taking over the lobby of the Ocean Sciences building.

    It’s been a year since the Ocean Sciences Building became the one center for oceanography research at the University of Washington. And while the occupants have long since settled into their light-filled offices, they are now beginning to claim the public areas as their own as well. In a lobby surrounded by an undulating, two-story glass wall, a collection of retired robotic vehicles and meters have taken on a new life, floating together in suspended conversation.
