Childhaven, a nonprofit child care program, recently moved into its new headquarters at 316 Broadway in Seattle.
The $15 million project includes a child care facility and administrative offices, replacing four structures previously on the site.
The 75,200-square-foot building has four stories over one level of below-grade parking. The first floor contains supervisory staff space and 11 classrooms for infants, toddlers and preschool children, with outdoor play areas adjacent to the classrooms. The upper three stories have offices, as well as space for training, research, child development and medical staff.
A commercial-size kitchen and a large community space is on the second floor.
Exterior materials include a mix of stucco, metal siding and brick, combined to provide a non-institutional feeling.
