The Paul Allen Research Center is located at the Providence Swedish Cancer Institute on First Hill.
The facility spans 7,460 square feet and is designed to enhance collaboration and innovation in cancer research. It houses flexible workspaces and state-of-the-art laboratory zones including both biospecimen (wet) and data (dry) laboratory spaces.
The space combines functionality with sustainability, prioritizing user experience while effectively using existing materials.
The center is named for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who passed away due to complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2018. Upon passing, Allen made a $20 million personal bequest to the Swedish Cancer Institute. This gift established the Paul G. Allen Research Center.
The center is dedicated to improving the experience of every cancer patient by developing leading advances in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. It also provides an optimal environment for conducting clinical trials and translational research.
