It's been a long, long wait. Decades of dreaming, talking and hoping for an urban waterfront that puts people ahead of cars instead of under them.
In January, with the decision that a bored tunnel will replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct, hopes and dreams became, well, promises. What's certain is that the viaduct will go away, leaving a swath of open space in full daylight.
