Seattle recycles a record 54%

SEATTLE — Seattle's recycling rate has hit an all-time high: 53.7 percent.

Seattle Public Utilities released its annual recycling report today that showed the amount of solid waste that was recycled and composted last year rose 2.6 percentage points. SPU said nationwide about 32 percent of solid waste is recycled.
