SEATTLE — Betsy Daniels, senior associate at Triangle Associates, won a 2013 U.S. Forest Service Chief's Honor Award. Daniels worked as the national facilitator/coordinator for reviewing the USDA/USFS Indian sacred sites policy and procedure.
The award was also given to her USDA/USFS colleagues who served on the sacred sites Core Staff Team, which developed the final report.
In 2010, USFS was directed to work with the Office of Tribal Relations to see how effective current regulations and policies are in protecting American Indian and Alaska Native sacred sites in national forests.
Daniels was as lead facilitator for this effort. The report is at http://www.fs.fed.us/spf/tribalrelations/sacredsites.shtml.
Triangle Associates is based in Seattle and worked on public policy issues and environmental conflicts.
