SEATTLE The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said $925,000 is available for tribes in Washington to remove older marine diesel engines and replace them with more efficient engines for marine vessels. Grant funds go to the Upper Skagit Tribe, the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, and the Lummi Nation.
The Swinomish tribe is receiving $792,000 to replace 12 engines with low-emission diesel engines. The Lummi Nation is receiving $77,250 and the Upper Skagit Tribe is receiving $55,890.
