EPA awards $2M in grants

  • The grants are the first from the Columbia River Basin Restoration Funding Assistance Program established in 2016 to reduce toxics in the basin.
  • An Environmental Protection Agency award announced yesterday will help the city of Vancouver better understand how stormwater influences water quality and inform decisions on the feasibility of future stormwater infrastructure retrofits.

The $144,039 grant will help the city sample water quality at six locations in the Columbia Slope sub-watershed. It is part of $2 million the Seattle and Denver offices of the EPA awarded to 14 organizations, universities and government agencies to reduce and assess toxics affecting the Columbia River Basin watershed, the EPA said in a press release.
