State requires all electric heating in most commercial projects

OLYMPIA — Following a vote on April 22, Washington has become the first state in the U.S.to require all electric heating in most new commercial and large multifamily buildings.

The new energy code, passed by the State Building Code Council, revised the existing code and now requires the installation of eclectic heat pumps in the majority of new buildings to heat interiors and water.
