Billions worth of fish barrier removal projects will keep contractors busy

The existing stream channels under U.S. 101 at Bagley and Siebert creeks were graded last year to simulate natural streambeds. The $36 million project, built by Scarsella Brothers, opened up nearly 41 miles of potential upstream fish habitat.

If the economy slips into a recession, some contractors may find themselves scrambling to find work while others may find refuge in fish.
