City, county fined for sewer overflows

SEATTLE — The city of Seattle and King County have both been issued penalties for combined sewer overflows (CSOs) from the sanitary sewer system in the Seattle area.

The penalties were jointly issued by the state Department of Ecology and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for violations that occurred between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2024.
