SEATTLE — The city of Seattle issued a notice Tuesday of its intention to award a contract to Seattle's EnviroIssues to support community engagement around a plan to build lids and other physical connections over Interstate 5 in close-in neighborhoods now divided by the freeway.
The estimated $250,000 contract supports the federally and state-funded Downtown Seattle I-5 Lid Community-Building and Planning Studies project, which aims to develop community leadership and an urban design vision for a series of lids that could house affordable housing, civic buildings and parks. The planning area spans I-5 from South Main Street to Thomas Street.
