SEATTLE — Washington signed a historic carbon market linkage agreement with California and the Canadian province of Québec on Thursday, positioning the three jurisdictions to begin operating jointly in 2027 to reduce greenhouse gases and invest in clean energy.
The unprecedented climate partnership means businesses in all three jurisdictions can make more predictable, long-term investments in reducing greenhouse gases, according to a release sent by Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson's office.
