SEATTLE — A 9,300-mile undersea fiber optic cable has been plugged into the Westin Building Exchange data center in Seattle.
Technically, the connection comes indirectly from Hillsboro, Oregon, where Hawaiki Submarine Cable LP's cable comes out of the sea from Hawaii. The cable launched in July and connects the U.S. West Coast to New Zealand and Australia. It has branches to several South Pacific islands.
