ROCKPORT, Skagit County — The Skagit River Bald Eagle Awareness Team provides education about the Skagit River ecosystem and the eagles that visit the region. Throughout January, the center offers guided nature hikes every weekend.
The nature hikes follow the Sauk-Skagit Reach Trail in Howard Miller Steelhead Park. These interpretive walks focus on eagles, salmon and their interconnected relationships within the Skagit River watershed. The walks last from 1.5 to 2 hours and travel along a flat, maintained trail. The trail leads into the rainforest, crosses a bridge over a wetland, and ends along the Skagit River.
