Schweitzer sets closing date

SANDPOINT, Idaho — Schweitzer Mountain Resort will close its 2025–26 winter season on April 5, about a week earlier than planned, after a historically low-snow winter and rapidly deteriorating conditions.

The North Idaho ski area operated continuously from its Dec. 3 opening through the revised closing date, despite below-average snowfall, warm temperatures and repeated rain events across the region. The resort reported 164 inches of total snowfall at the village level — about 54% below a typical season — compared with 292 inches last winter.
