Chopaka Lake spared closure

SEATTLE — A campground at Chopaka Lake will remain open this year after initially being slated for closure under budget cuts to Washington's public lands programs.

The Washington Department of Natural Resources said 11 sites will close or see reduced operations following a $580,000 cut to its recreation budget. The final list is smaller than a February proposal, with Chopaka Lake removed.
