Applications open for filmmaking grants

SEATTLE — Seattle International Film Festival announced the continuation of its Grant for Courageous Documentary Filmmaking, a program that will award nearly $2 million over five years to Washington state documentary filmmakers, including $450,000 in 2026. Applications are open through July 17.

The announcement was made during the opening night celebration of the 52nd Seattle International Film Festival, which ran May 7–17 at theaters across Seattle. The grants are offered in partnership with the Satterberg Foundation and support documentary projects centered on moral courage and social impact storytelling.
