WASHINGTON — More Than Just Parks has launched a fall foliage map that forecasts peak color for every county in the lower 48 and more than 1,500 public lands destinations, including national parks, national forests, wilderness areas and wildlife refuges.
The Public Lands Fall Foliage Map uses vegetation and elevation data, September temperatures, forest cameras, state foliage reports, observations from the National Phenology Network and geotagged photographs. The project also incorporates more than 107,000 dated, geotagged frames from a decade of the publisher's field work.
