Burke exhibit looks at forests, climate

SEATTLE — The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture will open “Knowing Nature: Stories of the Boreal Forest / Historias del bosque boreal” on Nov. 7. The bilingual exhibition explores the vast forest that stretches across Alaska, Canada, Europe and Russia, examining its role in the global climate and the communities and wildlife connected to it.

The traveling exhibition, developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, features photography, works by Native artists, interactive activities and objects from the Burke's collections. It also includes a multimedia installation created for the museum by Athabascan artist Janna Avner.
