SEATTLE Long before Wild Waves and Enchanted Village, there was the Playland amusement park in North Seattle.
The 12-acre park, which opened 75 years ago this summer, featured the Dipper, one of the biggest roller coasters on the West Coast, not to mention a waterslide, dodge'em cars, a merry-go-round, haunted house and roller skating rink.
