NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Kenya's tourism minister said Thursday that 2010 is expected to be the best year on record for the tourism industry despite the global economic downturn and only two years after postelection violence scared away visitors.
At least 701,691 tourists arrived in Kenya between January and August this year, Tourism Minister Najib Balala told journalists. That number well exceeds the same period in 2007, which was considered the previous best year on record.
