SEATTLE — Seattle Center Festal continues this weekend with Spirit of Africa. Headlining the festival is Massamba Diop, the African tama drum player who is featured in the “Black Panther” movie soundtrack. Diop, a master of the “talking drum” from Senegal, performs around the world and will play live Saturday on the Armory Main Stage.
Spirit of Africa showcases traditional and contemporary music and dance from countries across the African continent. There will be a fashion show including African designer Nansare Consolata as well as African cuisine, dance workshops, children's activities, cooking demonstrations and items for purchase at the African Marketplace.
Seattle Center Festal began in 1997. The series of 23 ethnic cultural festivals focuses on different communities in the Puget Sound region.
