SEATTLE — The Museum of History and Industry is offering a July 12 evening tour on the SS Virginia V called “Salish Waterlines” that will explore the native history of Seattle's waterways with Muckleshoot tribe historian Warren King George.
The 7 to 9:30 p.m. tour will look at the Coast Salish peoples' traditional and current uses of Lake Union and the area's ecosystem, and explore some of the impacts of urban growth. The website 520history.org says that descendants of the original inhabitants of the SR 520 corridor now are members of the Muckleshoot, Snoqualmie, Suquamish and Tulalip tribes.
Tickets include a complimentary salmon tasting. Cost is $25 for MOHAI and Virginia V members and $35 for the general public at http://mohai.org/event/ss-virginia-v-cruise-salish-waterlines/
