New articulating boom lifts from Grove Manlift

Journal staff

SHADY GROVE, Pa. - New AMZ51 Series articulating boom lifts from Grove Manlift feature articulating jibs for easier positioning and standard dual fuel engines for working indoors or out.

The AMZ51 Series offers a working height of 51 feet (15.54 m) and a platform capacity of 500# (227 kg). Both rear-wheel drive or extra traction (XT) all-wheel drive models are available.

A time-saving 5 foot (1.5 m) jib articulates through 120 of arc, making it easier for the operator to maneuver the platform close to the work area without repositioning the main boom. Jib and main boom combine to give the AMZ51 Series a total work area of 1,128 square feet (104.8 m2), the best in their class.

The patented center-line design of the boom and riser assembly eliminates torsional twisting and reduces platform bounce for greater operator confidence.

The rugged 30 x 60 in. (0.76 x 1.5 m) tubular steel platform is end-mounted for maximum horizontal outreach and unobstructed visibility. An optional 72-in. (1.8 m) platform is available with no reduction in platform capacity rating. Hydraulically-operated 130 platform rotation and 110-volt AC power to the platform are standard.

Joystick controllers with adjustable "ramp to zero" provide smooth, jolt-free starts for drive, lift and swing. The joystick controller includes a rocker-type thumb switch for convenient one-hand drive/steer operation.

Advanced hydraulics permit simultaneous operation of all machine functions. A foot-pedal control enable system is designed to prevent inadvertent functioning of all machine motion controls.

Thanks to standard 60-hp (44.7 kW) dual fuel engines, AMZ51 Series boom lifts are equally at home in both industrial and construction applications. Optional diesel power is available.

Front wheel steering permits tight turning radii, while maximum drive speed of 4.0 mph (6.4 kph) on the AMZ51 and 3.5 mph (5.6 kph) on the AMZ51XT reduces travel time between jobs. Rotary flow dividers provide positive power to the wheel with traction in uneven terrain. An optional oscillating rear axle is also available.

Compact dimensions allow AMZ51 Series lifts to travel through standard double doorways. On the AMZ51, width is just 5 feet 10.5 inches (1.79 m) and height is 6 feet 7 inches (2.0 m). Width increases to 6 feet 7 inches (2.0 m) on the AMZ51XT (an optional 5 feet 10.5 inches chassis is available).

Both models feature zero tailswing with the riser elevated for ease of operation in congested areas. Superstructure rotation of 350 provides a large range of operation on the job site, increasing productivity. Both models are driveable at full height while traversing firm, level surfaces.

For ease of maintenance, gull-wing style doors provide access to all internal components with the machine in any configuration. External power guides are easily accessible for routine maintenance and inspection. A lockable battery disconnect isolates the electrical system and helps prevent unauthorized use.

Additional options include: enclosed upper control box cover; 2,000-watt 110-volt AC generator; and hostile environment protection package.
