The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department has courageously taken the lead in banning smoking in all public indoor places; it's time for King County to join our neighbors to the south.
Starting last Friday smoking in bars, restaurants, bowling alleys and nightclubs in Pierce County will now draw a $100 fine. The health department also can issue fines and warnings to businesses that violate the ban, as well as suspend or revoke their licenses.
