The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco appointed Carol K. Nelson, Pacific region executive and Seattle market president of KeyBank, to the Seattle Branch board of directors. Nelson joined KeyBank in January, and is responsible for business and private banking in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. She also was director of Washington State Department of Revenue and CEO at Cascade Bank.

Cary Kopczynski & Co. promoted Andy Tu to project manager/associate, Elaine Peng and Jason Thome to senior design engineer/associate, Joel Kipple and Jerry Lee to senior design engineer, and Jacob Lanquin to senior BIM modeler. The firm hired Richard Hawksworth and Stephanie Vincent as design engineers, Allison Tran as a human resources specialist, and Natalie Sika as an administrative assistant. Tu has 13 years of structural engineering experience. He has designed residential towers and mixed-use projects, and is working on Tower 12, a 34-story residential building near Pike Place Market. Peng has 16 years of structural engineering experience. She is working on Lincoln Square in Bellevue. Thome has 10 years of structural engineering experience, and is working on the 440-foot Kinects Tower in the Denny Triangle. Kipple has nine years of structural engineering experience, and is working on Lincoln Square's retail podium. Lee has six years of structural engineering experience, and is working on 1200 South Figueroa, a project in Los Angeles. Lanquin has 15 years of experience in CAD and BIM drafting, and is working on Spring District Apartments in Bellevue. Hawksworth has nine years of experience in structural engineering, and is working on 970 Denny, a 440-foot residential tower in South Lake Union. Vincent was an engineering intern at CKC. She is working on Kinects Tower. Tran manages recruiting and employee relations. Sika assists the office administrator and project managers. CKC is a structural engineering firm with offices in Bellevue, San Francisco and Chicago.

States

Bill States will retire Sept. 11 as a corporate vice president and industrial systems market leader at Wood Harbinger after 40 years in the engineering industry. States' career in mechanical engineering began at Fluor Corp. as a piping designer. He joined Wood Harbinger in 2003 as a principal. He has worked on projects in the aviation, higher education, health care, municipal and military sectors, and helped get industrial systems projects. In retirement, States plans to do woodworking, hunt and travel to Jamaica.

Barta

HDJ Design Group hired Michael Barta as a civil engineer in the Vancouver office. In the Walla Walla office, it hired Alexander Matarazzo as a land surveyor and Kimberly Selph as a civil engineering designer. Barta worked for Bussard Williams in Bend on commercial, housing, roadway and utility projects. Matarazzo will move to the Pasco office in fall. He was with MacKay Sposito for almost 15 years in the Tri-Cities. Selph worked at Adams County Public Works as an engineering technician. She holds a degree in civil engineering from Washington State University. Vancouver-based HDJ provides civil engineering, planning, land surveying and landscape architecture.

The Watershed Co. promoted Amber Raynsford to landscape architect. Raynsford has 10 years of experience. Since 2012, she has been with Watershed, which provides natural resources assessment, mitigation and restoration design, environmental planning and permitting, arborist and landscape architecture services.

Soundview Consultants

Soundview Consultants hired Mike Shaw as an associate principal. Shaw has a background in marine construction, water quality and environmental policy. His projects include the SR520 floating bridge. Soundview is an environmental planning and land use consulting firm.

Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention

Abdullah

Saudia J. Abdullah has been appointed director of community corrections in King County's Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention. Abdullah was director of federal reentry operations at Pioneer Human Services in Seattle, and was a policy analyst at the Council of State Governments Justice Center in New York City. She has also served on the advisory board for King County Public Defenders.

HackerAgency

After launching a health insurance-focused practice in 2010, HackerAgency, a digital/direct marketing agency, is forming a stand-alone health insurance business unit. Serum will operate out of Hacker's headquarters in Seattle. Tom Reid will lead Serum as Hacker's vice president of health care. Reid will work with insurance and health care clients on marketing and sales. The agency will help Affinity Health Plan launch its Medicare Advantage marketing program.

Washington Health Benefit Exchange

Washington Health Benefit Exchange appointed Pam MacEwan as CEO until a new CEO is named. CEO Richard Onizuka is stepping down Friday. MacEwan has been with the exchange since 2012 as chief of staff, and was executive vice president for public affairs and governance for Group Health.

Bellevue-based Express Construction Co. added Joe Mallory as superintendent, Jason Haggard as controller and Stan Uhlig as senior project manager.







ABC of Western Washington

Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington hired Kayla Johnson for the newly created position of safety and education administrator. Johnson is working with members on safety training, safety resources, class and event registration, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process, and the Safety Alliance program. She previously worked in Texas as the health and safety specialist with Black Gold Safety. She holds a bachelor's degree in media studies from Northeastern State University.

Professional Service Industries transfered and promoted Sunia Malolo, EIT, to staff engineer in its Lynnwood office. Malolo previously was an engineering technician in the Oakland office. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from San Francisco State University.
